Mia is designing synthetic growth factors to be more potent, easier to produce, and longer-lasting in media. Mia’s growth factors could be way more efficient than what is currently available, dramatically lowering the cost of producing cultured meat.
Growth factors account for over 90 percent of cell culture media costs. By making them more effective, smaller quantities will be needed – and Mia’s research into making production cheaper will dually decrease the cost!
