Earlier this year we launched FEASTS (Fostering European cellular-Agriculture for Sustainable Transition Solution), a groundbreaking, collaborative research programme funded by the EU.

The goal is to deliver a comprehensive, unbiased knowledge base about cultured meat and seafood and their place in the food system. The work will be conducted over the next 3 years by a consortium of 35 independent organizations from 16 countries.

With the project well underway I am proud to share my newly-elected leadership role on this project as Executive Director of FEASTS. Together with Project Coordinator of FEASTS Prof. Frederico Ferreira from IST-ID, we make up the Executive Board leading and guiding this critical project.

Now more than ever, we need comprehensive, unbiased knowledge to guide the future of cellular agriculture.

FEASTS’ mission-led approach geared towards developing standards can shape future development and implementation of cultured meat technology based on transparency, open science and informed by ethical considerations.

I am thrilled to have a chance, alongside 35 partner organizations and with government support, to champion responsible research and innovation in cellular agriculture and advance cultured in the most efficient and socially responsible way possible.
